Biography: Mount: Sidecar – Norton

Age 36, Freeman is a motor cycle dealer, of Eckington, Nr. Sheffield. This is his first T.T., but he has had experience of racing on short circuits such as Brough, Cadwell, Scarborough, etc. He is entered by Freemans Motor Cycles, and his 1956 Manx Norton is fitted with a Freeman sidecar.

Age 40, Freeman is a moter cycle dealer, of Eckington, Nr. Sheffield. He has had experience of racing on short circuits such as Brough, Cadwell. Scarborough, etc., and in 1957 rode in the T.T. for the first time in the Sidecar race, finishing fifth on his Norton at 64.82 m.p.h. and winning a "Silver." In 1958 he scored first in Sidecar Scratch races at Cadwell Park and Kirkby Mallory, but his luck was out in the Sidecar T.T. for he retired on the first lap.
In the 1959 Sidecar T.T. he came home eighth on his Norton at 65.67 m.p.h. winning a bronze replica, and at Mallory Park the following Sunday he was third in the Sidecar Handicap. He won the same event at Mallory five weeks later, and won the Sidecar Handicap at Cadwell Park in September. He was second in the Sidecar Handicap at Silverstone early last year, second again at Mallory Park and first in the second Sidecar race at Scarborough.
Best of all was his ride in last year's Sidecar T.T. when he finished third at 77.08 m.p.h. with a Silver Replica ,of course, and the honour of being first home on a British machine. After the T.T., he scored many firsts. seconds and thirds at Aintree, Brand's, Cadwell, Mallory, Scarborough and Snetterton, and last April he won both Scratch and Handicap Side-car races at Cadwell Park, whilst he won the 500 c.c. Sidecar race there on Whit Monday. (TT Special, 12 June 1961, p. 23)
