Age 34, a motor-cycle mechanic of Hinckley, Leics., Hodgkin has a vast experience of short circuit races at Blandford, Cadwell Park, Haddenham, Scarborough, etc., and has been extremely successful, particularly at Cadwell, where in 1949 he won the Folbigg Trophy for the fastest eight laps on his famous 498 Triumph – J.A.P.

In 1949, also, when on the T.T. course for the first time he rode an A.J.S. in the Junior T.T. and a Norton in the Senior, finishing in both races and gaining second-class replicas. In the Senior he was nineteenth at 78.35 m.p.h.

In 1950 he was first in both 500 c.c. and Unlimited races at Cadwell Park, riding a Vincent on each occasion. He rode in the 1950 Junior and Senior T.T. races, but retired in both, during the first lap of the Junior and after completing five laps in the Senior.

He is entered by Ross Motors Lt., for both races.
