Biography: Age 29, Roy Mayhew comes from Lewisham. S.E.13. He has been racing since August 1955, and has been placed in the first three at Brands Hatch, Castle Combe, Crystal Palace, Silverstone, Snetterton, etc. Coming over to the Island he was fourth in the 1957 500 c.c. Newcomers' race at 86.21 m.p.h., but in the Senior Manx itself he retired with an inoperative clutch. In 1958 he was tenth in the Junior Manx at 84.94 m.p.h. with a replica and in 1959 he was first in the 350 Clubman's at Silverstone and the 350 Handicap of the North-West "200." He was tenth again in both the 1959 Manx races, but last year he did much better—second in the Junior at 89.32 m.p.h. and third in the Senior at 93.40. Hobby: "Playing about with motor cars."

He has been racing since August, 1955, and has been placed in the first three at Brands Hatch, Castle Combe, Crystal Palace, Silverstone, Snetterton, etc. Coming over to the Island he was fourth in the 1957 500 c.c. Newcomers’ race at 86.21 m.p.h., but in the Senior Manx itself he retired with an inoperative clutch.

In 1958 he was tenth in the Junior Manx at 84.94 m.p.h. with a replica and last year he was first in the 350 Clubman’s at Silverstone and the 350 Handicap of the North-West “200.”

He was tenth again in both last year’s Manx races.

Hobby: Motor-cars – “when I can find the time and money.”
