Age 38, a company director from Maroubra, New South Wales. Tony McAlpine has become famous in his own country for his spectacular riding, which recently has been on big twin Vincent machines. Since 1938, he has won no fewer than 31 events, putting up record laps and race times at every one.
Hobbies: Boxing, cricket, and Rugby League – played against the English Rugby League team on their first post-war visit to Australia.
He is one of the official Australian representatives, entered by the A.C.U. of Australia.
His A.J.S. is a new model and his Gilera, a “Saturno” single cylinder machine which is fairly common on the Continent, is making a first appearance on the Island.
