Biography: 125 c.c. – Montesa
Senior – Norton
Age 38, a motor-cycle representative from Madrid, J. de Ortueta no newcomer to the Isle of Man, having ridden in the T.T. in 1947, ’48, and ’49 without, however, being fortunate enough to finish in any race. He has been champion of his native Spain since 1947. In that year he headed the 500 c.c. class with a B.M.W., but in 1948 and 1949 he rode Nortons in that category. He was also 350 champion in 1949 and 1950 riding Velocettes.
Amongst his many successes in Spain during 1950 he won the Grand Prix of Madrid and Sardinero and the circuits of Gijon, Mallorca, Murcia, and Valencia and was second in the Grand Prix of Spain, being the first national rider to finish.
The 125 Montesa is a Spanish make, a two-stroke which has performed very well in its own country, but is making its first appearance over here.
