Alberto Pagani

Record type: Motorsport Biographies

Biography: Age 22, Alberto Pagani is a student, and comes from Milan, Italy—he is the son of former World Champion, Nello Pagani. He made his first appearance in the Island last year but in 1959 he was fifth in the 125 c.c. class of the Ulster Grand Prix on a Ducati, and was seventh in the Italian Grand Prix — he has lapped Monza within half-a-second of Ubbiali's lap record.

He is entered for the Junior and 125 c.c. races by Bill Webster, of Crewe, who writes: "I predict a great future for this rider - a real chip of the old block." Alberlo's hobbies are skiing and fast cars.

Alberto rode in three T.T. races last year—the 125 c.c, in which he finished 12th with a Bronze Replica, the Junior— 31st with a Silver—and the Senior 29th with a Bronze. On his Aermacchi he was fifth in the 250 c.c. class of the Belgian Grand Prix and, similarly mounted, was second in the same class of the Modena races last March. (TT Special, 16 June 1961, p. 7).
