Peter Pawson

Record type: Motorsport Biographies

Biography: Age 25, Peter Pawson comes from Hamilton, New Zealand. He first visited the Island in 1958, but he has been racing in his own country since 1956 and has scored first, second and third places in events there such as the New Zealand Grand Prix and T.T.

In 1958, riding Nortons, he was16th in the Junior T.T. and ninth in the Senior, collecting two Silver replicas; he was also a member of the New Zealand A.C.U. team which won the Club Team Prize in both races. In 1959 he was not quite so lucky, for he had to retire on the fourth lap of the Junior; in the Senior, however, he came home tenth, with a Silver Replica.

His luck In the Island was dead out last year, for he retired on the third lap of both Junior and Senior races. Early this year, however, he won the 350 c.c. race at Killarney, Cape Town, and last month was second in the 500 c.c. class of the Austrian Grand Prix, whilst he was second again on Whit Sunday —in the 500 c.c. race at Chimay.

He is entered for both races by Arter Bros. Ltd. (TT Special, 16 June 1961, p. 7)
