Biography: Mount: Sidecar – Norton

Age 29, A. H. Skein from Chatham is a well-known competitor on short circuits, having competed with (as he says) “minor” successes at Silverstone, Crystal Palace and Brand’s Hatch.

After two years in solo classes on a Douglas, without a great deal of luck, he turned to chairs and in his first race in this catefory he won £1. In his second race he got the black flag – but that is another story.

His Norton-Watsonian outfit is interesting, as the sidecar originally belonged to Bill Boddice while the Norton is the one with which Eric Briggs won the 1947 Senior Manx G.P. In the 1954 Sidecar T.T. Skein retired on the ninth lap. Last year he did better, and finished in ninth place.

Skein is a member of the Rochester M.C., and he claims as his hobbies “Pub crawling and spinster evasion.”
