Record type: Motorsport Biographies

Biography: Mounts: Junior – Norton
Lightweight – Excelsior
Senior – Norton

Age 48, a “regular” from Denmark. Rode in 1936, 1937, 1938 and 1939, always on Excelsiors; in the first three years collected one silver and two bronze replicas. In 1939 he was involved in a crash on Bray Hill in the second lap of the Junior, but was not hurt and was able to compete in the Lightweight on the following Wednesday. Bad luck again dogged him, however, and he retired at the end of the first, lap.

In 1947 he was with us again in the Junior and Lightweight races and finished in both - fifteenth in the Junior at 71.89 m.p.h. (second-class replica) and seventh in the Lightweight at 67.78 m.p.h. (first-class replica). In 1948 he rode Excelsiors in both Junior and Lightweight races. Finished 23rd in the former at 72.88 m.p.h., but retired in the latter on the fifth lap. In 1949, he rode a Norton in the Junior and an Excelsior again in the Lightweight, finishing 24th in the Junior and fifth in the Lightweight and winning a first-replica replica in each.

Similarly mounted he rode in the 1950 Junior and Lightweight events. In the former he finished 26th at 78.16 m.p.h. and in the latter seventh at 69.44 m.p.h. He collected a second-class replica in each event. On the Continent, among oilier successes, he won the Swedish Grand Prix, 350 and 500 classes, and the 500 class of Korsor Grand Prix (Denmark), all on Norton machines.

He is again riding his “old faithful” Excelsior in the Lightweight, and Nortons in the Junior and Senior, and is entered by himself.

His 'best yet' was his finish in 8th position in the Lightweight of 1936.
