Age 21, an engineer, of Aldershot, now temporarily in the army, Leslie Archer is the son of Les Archer senior, the famous “Aldershot Flyer.” On leaving school Les junior at once began to carry on the family tradition with considerable enthusiasm and a promising degree of success.
After competing in many scrambles, etc., he rode a Velocette in the first Clubman’s Lightweight of 1947 and finished third at 63.73 m.p.h., approximately 2 ½ minutes behind the winner, Bill McVeigh.
Later in the season he was a non-starter in the T.T. but he rode in many short circuit events and was usually in the picture. He is entered for both events by Archer and Sons, of Aldershot.
