Biography: Age 38, A.S. Avis is an aircraft design draughtsman and comes from Ashford, Middlesex. He has competed in five Senior Clubman's races between 1950 and 1954 but, as he says "success has been conspicuous by its absence." He has also ridden on several short circuits and last year rode in the 350 cc. Newcomer's race, finishing 19th. The following day, in the Junior Manx, he was 46th. Hobbies: Club flying and full bore rifle shooting.
