Age 36, an engineer from Leeds, and the older of the Brett brothers, Charlie is well-known in the racing world. He rode in the Junior T.T. of 1939 on a Velocette and won a silver replica and has won many other awards in races up and down the country. In 1947 he rode an Excelsior in the Lightweight but lost some "gee-gees" early in the race and did not finish.
Last year he rode a Velocette in the Junior T.T. but retired in the second lap, and had a nasty crash in the last lap of the 1948 "Ulster" on a Lightweight Excelsior. Rode at Esholt Park last Easter Monday and was fastest in the 250 class on an Excelsior, but, to use his own words, "was pulled over the coals for what was said to be dangerous driving and was disqualified - but I know what I think!"
Brett is entered this year for both races by Adamson and Sons, of Leeds, his Senior Velocette being a standard 350 fitted with an oversize piston.
Hobby: A little golf.

Mount: Lightweight – Excelsior

Age 34. An engineer from Leeds, and his war-time job was the same as his peacetime one. C. F. has not raced since 1939, and tells us that this “may be termed as a final crack at the T.T. before retirement.” He won a silver replica in the 1939 Junior riding a Velocette, and has taken other awards in various races up and down the country.

His lightweight Excelsior is a private entry.
