Biography: Age 25, M.T. Brookes is a sales representative from Shirley near Birmingham. He started racing in 1956, when he gained a cpuple of 'firsts' at Aintree and Brand's Hatch and in 1957 he came seventh in the 350 class of the North West '200'. He was leading the 1957 350 c.c. Newcomer's race by over a minute at half distance, but retired on the third lap - with the lap record at 87.21 mph to his credit. He won the 1958 Senior Clubman's at Oulton Park and was second in the Junior. He rode Nortons in the Junior and Senior Manx races last year, but was unlucky enough to retire in both - on the last lap of the Junior and the last but one of the Senior.
