Biography: Mount: Junior – Velocette
Aged 36, a fitter, of Newport, near Brough, East Yorks, “Dave” Davis was a regular performer at Donington pre-war, and in all has ridden in six Manx Grand Prix races. In the Junior “Manx” of 1948, he ran out of petrol near the Bungalow and coasted and pushed in to finish 60th at 69.99 m.p.h. on a Velocette.
Last year, on the same machine, he rode in both Junior and Senior “Manx” races, finishing 25th in the Junior at 74.17 m.p.h., and 32nd in the Senior at 72.78 m.p.h.
His machine for this year’s race is the same 1949 Mk VIII Velocette which he has owned since it left the factory. Hobbies: “Huntin’, shootin’” etc. – and is interested in all outdoor sports.
