Robin Dawson

Record type: Motorsport Biographies

Biography: Age 24, Robin Paul Dawson is a design engineer and comes from East Barnet, Herts. He began raring on short circuits in 1956 on a 250 c.c. Phoenix-JAP, which he also used for the following year. He was "non-competitive" during 1958 owing to lack of a machine. In 1959 he was 37th in the Junior, winning a replica.

He competed in all three classes of last year's Southern "100", finishing 2nd in the 250 c.c. class, 5th in the Junior and 4th in the Senior; and a couple of months later he collected a couple more Manx Replicas, for fifth in the Junior at 87.73 m.p.h. and eleventh in the Senior at 89.58. This year he has already scored firsts at Aberdare, Crystal Palace and Scarborough, whilst he was fifth in the 500 c.c. class of the recent I.o.M. Southern "100".

His Junior machine for this year's M.G.P. is a 1959 ex-Bob McIntyre machine, whilst his Norton is a 1961 model. (TT Special, 5 September 1961, p.10)
