Rally Dean
Record type: Motorsport Biographies
Biography: Junior - Norton
Senior - Norton
Age 20, Rally Dean comes all the way from Colombo, Ceylon, where he is a paint merchant. He has been racing for about three years, and his previous appearance in the Island was in the Junior Manx G.P., in which he finished 58th. Before leaving Ceylon, he was successful in a National airport race, winning the 350 c.c. racing class and making fastest time of the day. His Junior Norton is the same one on which he rode in the Manx, but the Senior one is a brand new machine, and bought for the purpose of this year’s race.
Rally has a serious complaint to make about Manx sunshine – its too strong! We quote from the “Sunday Express”: “Dark-skinned, Rally Dean, T.T. rider from Sunny Ceylon, complained in the Isle of Man – of sunburn. His face peeled, he needed lotion.”
Hobbies: swimming and boxing.
Together with Peter Fernando , Dean is entered by the Ceylon Motor Cycle Club.
