Graham Downes

Biography: Age 26, Graham Thos. Downes, from Narborough, Leicester, is a plant engineer. He began racing in 1955, his experience covering a couple of grass track meetings and half-a-dozen short circuits, finishing with the Manx Grand Prix.
In the 1956 Manx races he was 38th in the Junior and 36th in the Senior. In 1957 he finished 57th in the Junior Manx, but retired in the Senior. In 1958 it was the other way round—he retired in the Junior but finished 35th in the Senior, on his "350" A.J.S., and in 1959 he finished 42nd in the Senior Manx. He rode a Norton in last year's Senior T.T. but had to retire on the fifth lap. (TT Special, 12 June 1961, p. 22)
