Age 31, Clifford Ellerby is a steelworks maintenance engineer, and comes from Brigg, Lincs. He has ridden at many short circuit meetings, including Altcar, Cadwell Park, Dunholme, and Silverstone, and has figured in four races over the T.T. course.
The first of these was the 1950 Junior Clubman’s, when he retired with a seized engine on the first lap. In the same event in 1952, when lying about twelfth on a B.S.A., he broke down on the last lap and pushed in to finish 31st, whilst in the Junior Manx three months later on an A.J.S. he finished 33rd, just outside replica time. He rode a Velocette in last year’s Junior T.T., was 46th and won a bronze replica.
