Brian Freestone
Record type: Motorsport Biographies
Biography: Mounts: Junior – Norton
Senior – Norton
Age 24, Brian Freestone comes from Lincoln and has been successful on many of the short circuits in recent years, particularly at Cadwell Park, where he has won the Folbigg Trophy. Unfortunately he crashed heavily at Cadwell in July, 1954, and for four months was encased in plaster from his waist right up over his head, having broken a bone in his neck.
Brian rode in the Manx Grand Prix races in 1953 and put up a very good show by finishing fifth in both Junior and Senior events. Last year he was 32nd in the Junior Manx and 22nd in the Senior. At the first Alton Towers meeting of last season he was second in the 1,000 c.c. Invitation race.
His first International ride came last year when he won a Silver Replica for 23rd place in the Junior event. Brian’s Senior debut was rather less noteworthy for he retired on his second “tour”.
