Senior – Norton
Age 32, William Fulton comes from Liverpool and is an insurance agent. This is his fifth racing season, his experience being gained mostly at short circuit races such as Rhydymwyn, Oulton Park and Aintree.
He rode in the 1956 Manx but retired in each race. In 1957 he finished 27th in the Junior, only just outside replica time, but retired on the fifth lap of the Senior. In 1958 he was 12th in the Junior and 18th in the Senior on the same 350 c.c. Norton, collecting a couple of replicas. For this performance – the best by a resident Cheshire Centre rider in the Manx – Bill was awarded the Brian Jackson Memorial Trophy. In last year’s Junior, riding the same machine, he finished 17th; in the Senior he was 16th – winning replicas in each case, and also the Brian Jackson Memorial Trophy.
Hobby: “Trying to find a way of persuading the Trade Barons to give me some financial support – and looking for a sponsor.”
