Biography: Age 24, Maurice Gittins is a motor mechanic and comes from Shifnal, Salop. He started racing in 1955 and finished within the first six at many short circuits in 1958, with several second and third places.
He has had considerable experience of the Mountain Course, for he first raced over it in the September 1957 500 c.c. Newcomers race, in which he finished tenth. This entitled him to a ride in the Senior M.G.P., and here again he finished, this time 33rd, in 1958 he was twelfth in the Senior Manx, winning a replica, but in 1959 he retired in both M.G.P. races.
Maurice rode in the T.T. for the first time last year, finishing 45th in the Junior race at 81.94 m.p.h. and collecting a Bronze Replica. (TT Special, 12 June 1961, p. 26)
