Biography: Mount: Junior – Velocette
Age 24, a garage proprietor, of Shirley, Nr. Birmingham, Ron Hazelhurst has had successes at Ansty, Blandford, Haddenham, etc. He came into the limelight when he won the 1948 Junior Clubman’s T.T. at 70.33 m.p.h. on a Velocette, having been as far back as sixth at half distance. In the Junior Manx three months later he finished 31st and gained a replica.
Last year he turned “international” and rode a Velocette in the Junior, finishing 58th (second-class replica) at 73.85 m.p.h. In the Lightweight race on the following Friday, however, when riding an O.K. Supreme, he retired on the last lap.
