Age 26, company director Dennis Lashmar, of Stanmore, Middlesex, has become well-known at short circuit events since the war, especially for his spectacular riding “Soaking Silverstone Saturday” he of Vincent big-twins. At the 1950 put up the fastest lap at 71.13 m.p.h.
In the Island he won the 1949 Clubman’s 1,000 c.c. T.T., and he finished thirteenth in the Junior “Manx” the same year after crashing at Governor’s Bridge on the last lap when lying sixth.
In 1951 he won a second-class replica in the Senior T.T. by riding into thirteenth place at a speed of 83.21 m.p.h. He was 30th, on a Norton, in the 1952 Senior, but was an “absentee” from last year’s series.
Using a 500 c.c. B.S.A. he has been well in the running in this year’s short circuit meetings, scoring successes at Brand’s Hatch, Crystal Palace and Snetterton.
Hobbies: Tennis, squash and P.T.
