Biography: Age 30, Ned Minihan is a factory manager and comes from Hayes, Middlesex. He has had seven years' "good average" racing experience, and in 1956 finished 15th in the Senior Clubman's race. He came into the lime-light in 1957 by winning the 500 c.c. class of the Newcomers' race at 88.90 m.p.h., with record lap at 90.63. In the Senior M.G.P. he lay seventh on the first lap and fifth on the second, only to retire on the third. In 1958 he retired in the fifth lap of the Junior, but finished third on his Norton in the Senior at 91.02 m.p.h. In 1959 he was 13th in the Junior on an A.J.S. and was again third in the Senior on a Matchless, whilst last year he retired on the first lap of the Junior but finished fourth in the Senior, at 92.57 m.p.h. Hobbies: Ornithology and gardening.

I damaged my leathers in a crash at Brands Hatch in the mid 70s and found a place in Watford that did repairs. It turned out it was run by Ned Minihan. At the time I had never heard of him so I was surprised to find that he had won the Manx GP. Had a bit of a chat and he did a good job on the leathers. - Derek Scudder Report this
