Biography: Killed whilst racing at Le Mans in 1967.
Age 32, Syd Mizen is a driver-salesman from Snugborough, Union Mills, Isle of Man. His first race was at Andreas, near Ramsey in 1953, and in 1954 he competed in the Clubman's races, following up with the Manx Grand Prix the same year. He rode Nortons in the 1955 M.G.P. finishing 31st in the Junior and 19th in the Senior. He has been "placed" at various short circuit meetings and in the 1956 Manx he was 12th in the Junior and first 350 machine home in the Senior in 21st place.
In the 1957 Junior Manx, he was 10th at 85.29 m.p.h. and in the Senior he was 12th (84.29).
Turning to the T.T. in 1958, he was 25th in the Junior and 28th in the Senior, collecting a couple more Replicas, whilst in 1959 he was sixth in the I.o.M. 350 c.c. Formula 1 race, and 15th In the JuniorT.T. at 89.78 m.p.h. with a Silver replica. Last year he collected two more "Silvers" for 11th in the Junior and 17th in the Senior. He was a member of the B.M.W. record-breaking team at Montlhery last March. (TT Special, 16 June 1961, p. 6)
