Record type: Motorsport Biographies
Biography: Age 29, Ken Payne is an industrial photographer and comes from Eltham, London, S.E.9. He did not race at all in 1959, but in 1958 he scored a first at Brands Hatch and was fifth in the Autumn Championship at Silverstone. He has had experience of the Mountain Course, too and was 18th in the 1958 Junior Snaefell race: this qualified him for the Junior Manx, in which he unfortunately had to retire on the third lap. Ken rode a 350 Ajay in last year's Senior Manx, but had to retire on the first lap. He is riding the same machine—a 1959 7R kindly loaned to him by Sid Mizen—in this year's Junior race. Hobbies: "Just motor cycling."
