Biography: Junior - Norton
Lightweight - Rudge
Age 32, a motor cycle mechanic of Edgware and younger brother of “R.H. Pike”. Started racing at Brooklands in 1936 and later rode at Donnington and the I.o.M. in 1937, he won a “finishers award” in the Senior M.G.P. riding a standard Rudge Ulster. Competed in the Manx again in ’38 with an Excelsior but did not finish. In 1939 competed in his first T.T. wining a bronze replica and the Newcomer’s Award.
Last year he rode his Rudge in the Lightweight, was fourth for the first four laps, but was over-hauled by Ben Drinkwater in the fifth lap and dropped back to fifth place which he retained to the finish, winning a first class replica.
