Biography: Age 44, Harry Plews, from Horsforth, near Leeds, is a decorator by trade and served with the Royal Signals during the War, being a member of the winning team in the Northern Ireland Army Trials. Harry has held a licence since 1927, and from 1935 to 1939 rode in grass tracks and trials, taking to road racing in 1950; he has competed in six Clubman's races, finishing ninth, fifth, sixth, 24th, sixth again and 32nd. In his three Manx Grand Prix races he was 21st, 18th and 13th.

He was 28th in the 1955 Junior TT (Silver Replica) and 28th again in the 350 cc Ulster of the same year. His 1956 score in the Isle of Man was 17th in the Senior TT and 21st in the Junior. His respective speeds were 88.69 and 80.67 mph which won him two Silver Replicas. Last year he finished 44th in the Junior (Bronze Replica), but retired in the third lap of the Senior. Harry is entered for both events by Bill Bancroft, of Horsforth.

At Esholt Park last Easter he was placed second in a 350 c.c. race and in both 500 c.c. events, while at Silverstone Saturday he was fourth in the first 500 c.c. race and 18th in the 50-mile Championship event, in which he was first on handicap. He was 28th in the Junior T.T. (Silver Replica) and 28th again in the 350 c.c. Ulster.

Harry is entered for both events by Bill Bancroft Ltd., of Horsforth.

In his three Manx Grand Prix races he was 21st, 18th, and 13th. Nine Isle Of Man races, in fact - with a finish in each: not a bad record!
