Biography: Age 26, John Terrance Shakespeare is an electrical engineer from Wolverhampton. He first started road racing in 1953, but National Service put an end to this for a couple of years. He has since taken part in a number of trials and rallies and short circuit meetings. He rode a BSA in last year's 350 cc Newcomer's race and finished 11th, qualifiying for a ride in the Junior Manx in which he retired with mechanical trouble.
