Biography: Age 45, Alf Shaw is a marker off, of Woodchurch, Birkenhead. He first rode on the Mountain Course in 1936, in the Lightweight class of the Manx Grand Prix—as he did again the next two years.

In 1948, Alf won a replica in the Junior Manx Grand Prix, for 17th place on his Norton, at 73.13 m.p.h. The next year he turned to the Junior T.T. only to retire, but in 1950 he won the Lightweight class of the Leinster "200" and was second in the same class of the North-West "200."

He did not do much racing, then, until 1958, when he was sixth in the Carrowdore "100" Lightweight race, being-fourth in the same event in 1959. Last Year he rode a 40M Norton In both Junior and Senior T.T. races, coming home 49th in the Junior (Bronze Replica) and 36th in the Senior, with a Finisher's Award. Alf Shaw sadly lost his life during practice for the 1967 Senior TT when he was riding a Norton.
