Biography: Age 25, Alan Trow is a motor cycle engineer from Bexley Heath, Kent, who rode in 1956 as a member of the works Norton team. He has had experience at Brand's Hatch, Castle Combe, Silverstone, Cadwell Park, Crystal Palace and Thruxton, and he paid his first visit to the Isle of Man in 1955 to ride in the Manx Grand Prix. He was ninth in the Junior race and fourth in the Senior, for which performance he gained the Newcomer's Award.

Alan's first appearance as a Norton teamster was at Oulton Park, at Easter 1956, when he was fourth in the 500 cc race, he was also well placed at Silverstone, and then followed his first overseas race at Floreffem where he was sixth in the 350 cc event and fourth in the 500 cc. His rise to fame has been rapid. In the 1956 TT races he was sixth and seventh in the Junior and Senior events respectively with speeds of 83.99 and 91.36 mph and last year he was 10th in the Junior and sixth in the Senior, collected two more Silver Replicas. Alan is one of the team of Norton riders entered by Slazengers Ltd in both races.
