Biography: Robert Jones MRSS

Robert Jones is a Manx sculptor and artist and appointed member of the Royal Society of Sculptors. He has had solo exhibitions in the UK and Isle of Man, his work has been exhibited widely and he has pieces in the Isle of Arts Council collection and the Manx Museum’s national collection.

Growing up with an artistic background in the Isle of Man Jones has been inspired by the strong heritage of Manx sculpture, particularly through the work of his mentor Michael Sandle RA and of Bryan Kneale RA. Jones has trained in stone sculpture and a wide range of metalwork techniques and currently specialises in steel sculpture.

Manx nature, landscapes, industrial heritage and their juxtaposition have also inspired Jones. Recent work has been heavily influenced by the climate crisis and his hopes for a better future for the planet. Wherever possible his work is made from discarded metal and other recycled materials and he works to minimise his environmental impact.
