Biography: Born in Nottingham in 1786, he practiced mainly as a portrait painter in the West Midlands. His high-quality oil paintings brought him to the attention of Cornelius Smelt, Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man, and he was commissioned to produce a portrait of him in 1826. He died in Nottingham in 1843.
