Biography: Manx clergyman; founder member of the Manx Society, 1858, and of the Isle of Man Natural History and Antiquarian Society, 1879, of which he was president in 1884; member of the Archaeological Commission on Prehistoric Monuments and Other Antiquities 1876-1878; among his fourteen children were Philip (first director of the Manx Museum) and Josephine (the poet ‘Cushag’).
