Biography: 2nd Lieutenant in the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, 9th Battalion. Killed in France on 10th September 1918 aged 29. Son of Robert Henry Cooil of The Limes, Hale Road, Hale, Cheshire and the late Sophia Cooil. Commonwealth war grave at Gouzeaucourt, New British Cemetery. Extract from the Isle of Man Examiner, 26 Oct 1918, p.4 states, "He was a Second Lieutenant in the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. A telegram was sent from the War office proving the death of the deceased, stating that Lieut. Cooil was killed whilst leading his platoon to the attack of a very strong position on 10th September, 1918."
