Biography: Maud Hall Neale was born in Waterloo near Liverpool in 1869 as the daughter of William Rutherford. Her skill in painting led her to study in Paris under Delecluse and during the years 1889 to 1938 she exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Royal Insitute of Oil Painters and the Liverpool Academy of Arts. She left Liverpool in 1916 and moved to Airlie Gardens in Kensington, London but much of her work is still kept in the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool as well as in the Isle of Man.
