Biography: James H. Atcheson; service number 772136; served with HMS Bayano as a Ship's Steward, 2nd class Mercantile Marine Reserve. Lost at sea off the coast of Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland on 11th May 1915, aged 35. The ship was torpedoed by submarine U27 while on passage from Clyde to Liverpool carrying personnel, stores and equipment, resulting in 195 dead and 26 survivors.
