Knockaloe marquetry bone vase
Date made: 1914-1918
Description: One of a pair of bone vases with an inlaid marquetry design, the bones were made in Knockaloe Internment Camp 1914-18. 22 cm high. The wooden inlay design is of a Rhenish castle above arches.
The wooden base is broken on one edge and the wooden top or rim is missing. There is the faint remnant of a verse on one side of the bone which looks like it may have been removed by overzealous cleaning in the past.
