commemorative jug for George I

Date made: early 18th century

Description: Jug, Grey with blue glaze and sigraffito decoration and maroon panel on neck. Crowned cipher G.R. in centre (probably moulded). Said to be George III jubilee mug but Grenzhausen ware circa 1700-1714. Probably a jug commemorating the accession of George I.

H. 9 inch. Diameter base 3 inch G = Giuelemus (i.e. William) Westerwald or Raeren.
