This House That Was My Brother's
Date made: 1941
Artist: Miller, Harold 'Dusty'
Description: This cartoon was published in the IOM Weekly Times of 12 July 1941, in the direct aftermath of the loss of 129 Battery of the Manx Regiment on Crete. The preceding weeks' papers were full of news of this event, and photos of soldiers who were missing. The cartoon shows a soldier saluting a gasmask and helmet on the doorstep of house. The house number 129 is a reference to 129 Battery. The artist had briefly served with the regiment, so would have known many of those involved.
