Improved semi grand piano
Date made: c.1835
Description: This is a mahogany piano with a wooden frame, circa 1835. The inscription on an ivory plaque reads, "Patent John Broadwood & Sons Manufacturers to her Majesty Great Pulteney Street Golden Square London". The carved and fretted panel above the keyboard is made of rosewood. The case is made with specially-selected figured mahogany which has now faded. The turned legs, terminating in brass castors, have neo-classical carvings at their tops and can be removed to transport the musical instrument.
