Reverend Canon Fred Cubbon

Description: Reverend Canon Fred Cubbon seated dressed as an army chaplain, with Second World War medal ribbons. Fred Cubbon was a member of a wealthy but altruistic Manx family. His father and uncles donated considerable sums to charity, founding among other things the Cubbon residential home in Douglas, and a new wing at Noble's Hospital in 1950. Cubbon himself attended King William's College before being ordained. He served as an army padre in the Second World War, and in 1953 was appointed padre of the Isle of Man RAF Association.
