Log Cabin Quilt

Description: A star pattern patchwork quilt with each log cabin block made up of Turkey red and white cotton stripes. The log cabin squares are sewn together to produce a series of alternating red and white stars.
The quilt is backed with a white cotton sheet and is machine-quilted in red cotton thread in straight lines which correspond with the outlines of the log cabin squares. The edges of the quilt are bound with three lines of machine stitching in white cotton. The quilt does not contain any filling.
This patchwork quilt was made by Edith Stephens and was finished on the 31st January 1913. The fabric cost 16s 10 ½d. Edith Stephens wrote a list of everyone who bought a piece of fabric used to make the quilt.
