Isle of Man Volunteers uniform of Sergeant James Thornhill Wood
Date made: early 20th century
Description: One suit of scarlet uniform, belonging to 7th Isle of Man Volunteer Battalion King's Liverpool Regiment comprising tunic, trousers, service dress cap,and helmet, and leather belt.
This is the uniform of Sgt James Thornhill Wood; photographs of him in Manx National Heritage Library and Archives.
Red tunic with blue facings, emboidered '7 V Liverpool' shoulder titles. There are marks on the sleeve where proficiency stars were once attached but have at some point been removed. The trousers still have a paper label naming the wearer as 'Bandsman Wood'.
