Overalls worn by a scrutineer at the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) races
Date made: 1992
Maker: unknown
Description: This set of overalls (front and reverse shown) was worn by Mike Corkill, a scrutineer at the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) races in 1992.
Made of red cotton in the style of a boiler suit, the overalls are endorsed with transferred logos of the sponsor 'Pirelli' to the front and back.
The TT races could not take place without the input of a myriad of support and administration personnel. Among these the scrutineers play a dual role; they ensure that motorcycles comply with the exacting technical regulations for each class, and before and during races they ensure that machines, leathers, boots and helmets meet safety standards, and that no component is loose or likely to cause danger.
