Would like to find the House of Industry records of my great grandfather Thomas Henry Kewley. Former baker in Douglas. Died there in 1937. Buried in family grave with his wife Isabella Coole Kewley & some of their children. - Barbara Thomas Report this
Long since known as the Ellan Vannin Home, in Kingswood Grove. According to Pevsner, it is indeed by John Welch, 1836, although John Robinson supervised the works. Much altered in 1921 by Jos. E Teare, who removed the tower. The wings have been extended. The overall appearance is now rather more plain than that shown in this watercolour. - Peter Vick Report this
