Port-e-chee from the Quarter Bridge

Description: “Here is a farm belonging to the Duke of Athol called Port Echee situate on a beautiful Savannah; it is partly surrounded with wood and has a very pleasing appearance from the road.” (Samuel Dukinfield Swarbreck, Tour through the Isle of Man by Captain William Latham, July 1815, M 07398)

Sketch by Captain William Latham of Liverpool. In July 1815 Captain William Latham made a tour of the Isle of Man with Mr William Gerard Walmesley Esq of Liverpool, Mr James Leigh of Liverpool and Mr Ralph Greenough of Wigan. Latham made many sketches of the Island during his visit.
