Cotton Framed Medallion Quilt
Date made: mid-late 19th century
Description: A cotton patchwork quilt with a framed medallion geometric pattern. The central square made of four small squares bordered by variously coloured and patterned patchwork panels. The quilt is purple and mauve with pink, blue and yellow patches. It is made of lightweight cotton dress fabrics.
The quilt is backed with three pieces of stitched together white cotton fabric and is hand-quilted in a zig-zag pattern using white cotton thread. There is no filling.
This patchwork quilt was made by the late Mrs S. Kinley of Ballakelly, Ballakilpheric, Rushen and is marked 'CDK' on the reverse.
