Description: "The Bridge itself is a neat structure of recent date, with a pleasing and commanding view of the vast tract of level land called the Curragh, while, behind are hills and mountain ranges, until the highest peak of the island is attained." Miss Georgina Gore Currie was the niece of Horatio Powys, Bishop of Sodor and Man from 1854 to 1877. Georgina stayed with the Bishop’s family at their residence, Bishopscourt, north of Kirk Michael. During her time on the Isle of Man, Georgina sketched and painted many Manx scenes including Bishopscourt and its gardens.
