Description: Analogue sound meter in two parts, used by scrutineers at Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) races to check that competing motorcycles complied with noise regulations. Analogue device used by scrutineers until about 2000, when replaced by digital equipment. (Donor is a long-term scrutineer at the TT races.)

The TT races could not take place without the input of a myriad of support and administration personnel. Among these the scrutineers play a dual role; they ensure that motorcycles comply with the exacting technical regulations for each class, and before and during races they ensure that machines, leathers, boots and helmets meet safety standards, and that no component is loose or likely to cause danger.
